Success is not about ones wealth but how you other impact people’s lives. We don’t live for ourselves only but to help others reach their dreams.
Hammer and Obrafour might not have been awarded by the Ghana music industry but they have made themselves proud by introducing new musicians into the industry more than any other. Those rappers were talented but they needed an upper hand to reach higher heights. Today most of these rappers you will see in this list are men on their own, doing their own thing. I can’t imagine the joy it brings to them. We personally think Hammer and Obrafour should be far praised and awarded than Reggie Rockstone and the lot.
Let’s take a look at these rappers Hammer and Obrafour turned to super stars.

OKRA TOM DAWIDI

Okra Tom Dawidi might not be active right now but he influenced lots of rappers during his hay days. He had smash hit songs like Kosoa, Dawidi and more. His rap style is more of big bass voice and big words that rhymes. Sarkodie once said he was highly influenced by Okra. His songs on Obrafour’s execution diary was a smash hit.

KGPM

KGPM was a rap duo consisting of DJ KG and PM. They had a hit song titled ‘Enti Saa Na Wote3′ produced by Hammer which was a nationwide hit. They currently outside Ghana and still into music. Hammer introduced them to the world.

DOGO

With Hammer’s big bass beat, it’s hard to go wrong. Dogo came through and laced his lyrical flow unto the beats and the result was a classic. Thanks to Obrafour’s Execution Diary, Ghana got to know about Dogo.

JAY D

Jay D didn’t reign for long, actually he was a one hit wonder but his style and first big single was highly welcomed by Ghanaians. His big voice went smooth on the Hammer beat. His style was unique and he could have done more.

BOLLIE

Thanks to Hammer and Obrafour, Bollie came through with his sick anthem, ‘You May Kiss Your Bride’ which became an instant hit. Bollie’s rap style was a bit faster, pure twi and rhymed. Thanks to Hammer’s beat, he made a huge hit song.

DEEBA

Deeba also scored his huge self-titled hit song through Hammers beat. He released a couple of songs after but he is mostly remembered for his Hammer-produced song ‘Deeba’

QUATA

Quata reigned for a while until Sarkodie came through. Quata was known for his fast raps, he was known as the Busta Rhymes of Ghana at that moment. He was introduced to the country by Obrafour’s execution diary and Hammer’s extra ordinary Hip Hop beats

GURU

Nobody knew about Guru until Obrafour unveiled him in his controversial song ‘Kasiebo’. Ghana embraced Guru’s style which is a bit of chanting and fast rhymes. Guru has then never looked back. He’s still very active and a man on his own releasing hits after hits, without even trying.

TINNY

One of the first graduates from Hammer & Obrafour’s camp was the ga rapper, Tinny. He raps solely in ga language but his songs penetrated through non-speaking Ga areas of the country. His first smash hit song was ‘Makola Kwakwe’ which was a nationwide hit and was produced by Hammer.

KWAW KESE

Kwaw Kese was a mason until he heard of the ongoing Obrafour’s execution diary, he decided to give it a shot and today he’s one of the most successful artistes in Ghana. He has been active since his breakthrough song, ‘NONSENSE’ which was on the Obrafour and Hammer’s execution diary.

EDEM

Formerly called Ayigbe Edem, Hammer decided to try something new by introducing Ewe-language-speaking rapper, Edem to Ghanaians, it all worked perfectly well as his first single to his last single has been all a success. Edem’s first song ‘Bougez’ was a nationwide hit and was produced by Hammer.

SARKODIE

Sarkodie became a local champion in Tema when he started freestyling on radio through Dr. Duncan on Adom FM, His freestyles on Hip Hop beats went far but he reached even far and became a nationwide champion when Hammer put him on a song with Edem which was their first big song. The song was much praised, Sarkodie was heavily praised for his massive and impressive rap skills. Since then, his music journey began and he has become the most talked-of and sought-after rapper in Ghana right now with a BET award under his coffers.
Hammer and Obrafour has helped lots of musicians whilst few didn’t make the cut, many made their way to stardom and never looked back. I guess all they have to say is ‘THANK YOU”. They have changed lives and deserve awards, praises and legendary statuses.
