Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda will start his first competitive match for
Orlando Pirates when they face Free State Stars on Wednesday,
MTNFootball.com has reported.
The first choice Black Stars goalkeeper will be given the nod ahead of Senzo Meyiwa for the first time in the South African top flight since joining the side at the beginning of the season.
Dauda came on in the second half in Pirates’ 1-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns in their last Premiership game on Sunday.
The 28-year-old came on to replace the injured Senzo Meyiwa – the regular first choice – at a time the Bucs were already down by a goal which eventually proved to be the winner.
The former AshantiGold shot-stopper will finally get his chance to start for Pirates despite the injury return for Meyiwa.
The South African goalkeeper’s form has been dodgy in recent games – which have seen most of the club fans turn against him despite his consistent displays at the start of the season and in their Champions League campaign.
Pirates are desperate to return to winning ways to improve their current 7th place in the South African top flight despite having four games in hand.
