Rowan Atkinson, 60, popularly known as Mr. Bean is selling his McLaren F1 super car for £8million after it cost almost £1million to repair when he smashed it into a tree – regarded as the highest car insurance claim in Britain.
Mr. Bean bought his 241mph British supercar new in 1997 for £540,000 but he is selling the car now for £8 million, though he has crashed it twice in the past.
Even though Mr. Bean claims he did not buy the car for investment purposes, it surely seems as one considering how much he bought it and how much he is selling it.
Atkinson told Telegraph today that “I bought it [the car] for the quality of the thinking that went into its design”. ‘Having this car for so long has not been an ownership experience so much as a partnership.
‘You feel the car putting its arm around you and saying let’s go for a drive – together. It’s that sense of a car’s character I love so much.’
