Ghanaian Musicians Who Have Been Accused Of Using JUJU (Voodoo) To Boost Their Careers

OFORI AMPONSAH

At a time Ofori Amponsah was the hottest artiste in Ghana. Everything he dropped was hot. He together with his team of talented musicians like K.K. Fosu, Barosky and Kofi Nti spiced Ghanian hiplife music during their reign. Ofori Amponsah fell drastically and many don’t know why but according to rumors, gossip and our research, Ofori Amponsah was highly involved in juju which aided his success (thus if the gossip is true) and just as I said before, juju takes back what it gave you and usually ends u up in disgrace. He is now a man of God and we are glad. Ofori Amponsah had huge success and at a time could be compared to Daddy Lumba as all albums he dropped was a sell-out.

SAMINI

He comes from the Northern region of Ghana, his real name Samini means “rain god or god of the rains”. Just as the usual stereotype goes, Northerners don’t play with their deities. Many people attribute Samini’s long stay in the industry to his strong spiritual background. We don’t know any truth but Northerners have the best JUJU in Ghana and it is usually stereotyped that all Northerners have at least a bit of voodoo planted in them from birth. You can choose to believe that or not.

KECHE

Keche out of nowhere came through and made Ghanaians dance with their back-to-back hits from Sorkode, Body Lotion to Aluguitugui, they wowed everyone. We all danced to their songs with good heart until a prophet came out to lash them out for using juju to make their “Aluguitugui” song a hit. Well we all know about false prophets but what baffles us is, things haven’t been the same after the prophet made some prophesies, the duo has dropped countless recent releases and they all underperformed, which makes us wonder, was the prophet right??? CASTRO

After several hit songs, Castro seems to have lost his groove at a time. On top of a couple of failed singles, he got very sick. Rumors started flying out that Castro’s sickness is due to a “JUJU man” he consulted to aid the success of his “African Girls” song who Castro failed to pay. We still don’t know the truth yet, but Castro was sent to his hometown, Takoradi to seek spiritual healing. Castro came out to deny it several times about the falseness of the rumor but it fell on deaf ears. This rumors and his sickness affected his career heavily.

SARKODIE

We haven’t heard any rumor about Sarkodie’s involvement with JUJU but we know for sure he has been linked to the illuminati, hence his song, illuminati. Often times most musicians and his main competitors discuss among themselves as to why Sarkodie has overshadowed them all, inking the deals and getting far always. You can call that envy but they really do think that Sarkodie has JUJU aiding his success.

 

EDEM

Edem’s is more like Samini, plain stereotype at work. Maybe because he’s from the Volta Region, the only people that come next of Northerners in terms of JUJU usage and the worship of deities. Many has fingered Edem’s success in the industry as the use of JUJU. We really doubt that as Edem is a modern-day Ewe man, he might or could have a little for protection but has got nothing to do with his god-given talents.

CRISS WADDLE

Criss Waddle is rich off his own hustle (MORE ABOUT THAT HERE). Musically he is very talented, his elder brother is Kwesi Pee and his late dad was a musician, meaning the music runs in the family but Criss Waddle does music as part time, for fun or as a hobby. He had his first big song in 2012 titled “Ayi” which featured Bisa Kdei. According to the gossips in town, the success of Criss Waddle’s song was attributed to JUJU because of his rumored hustle as a Sakawa boy.

 

DADDY LUMBA

He’s a living legend and one of the oldest musicians in the country still selling songs. He has released over 20 successful albums since the inception of his career. Daddy Lumba release a successful album at least every two years. His recent album which was released late 2013 has become a nationwide hit and was the main theme song of the 2014 Easter festivities. Because of his consistency, many has fingered Daddy Lumba’s efforts to using JUJU to aid his progress. Which we think is silly because Daddy Lumba takes his time write his songs which are timeless, also he moves with time and work with new artistes and producers.
