10 Overrated Ghanaian Celebs

The Ghanaian industry is full of hype, with the right people behind you, you can win without even trying. Most of our popular celebs are just up there because of the huge hype around them. It makes it so hard for the real talented people to break through.
Let us go and see some Ghanaian celebs who we think are highly overrated or over-hyped. Let’s walk

DJ MENSAH

Before DJ Mensah became Sarkodie’s official DJ we never saw him much in action but he was still very popular which makes us wonder, what is he popular for? He is still one of the most sought-after DJ’s in the country, winning awards here and there, but all he does is DJ for Sarkodie which is the most easiest form of DJing. When he DJ in the club, he just don’t make the cut, he’s just too over-hyped for what he does.

DEBORAH VANESSA

The only thing Deborah Vanessa does best is taking bikini photos, no doubt about that, musically she sucks. She’s everywhere from TV to Social Media

JULIET IBRAHIM

Juliet Ibrahim is a big star currently especially in Nigeria reason being, she’s too beautiful and endowed but is that what it takes to become a huge star? I can count all the Ghanaian movies Juliet has been in, Juliet is not big because of her movies but her beauty and we strongly think she’s highly overrated.

DJ BLACK

I can DJ if I want to and DJ Black is the most hyped DJ in Ghana or let’s just say, the most popular DJ in Ghana. DJ Black has been DJing for over 10 years. He has hosted and DJ’d for all the biggest shows in the country. I think the reason is because he’s with Multimedia, he can talk and DJ but I think there a million DJ’s in Ghana who can do either better or same thing as DJ Black is doing, they are just not given the chance to shine.

SARKODIE

Personally we feel Sarkodie is a good rapper but he is not the best as speculated, the truth is, he changed the whole music scene and till date nobody has replaced him yet, so in other words he has no competition so anything he spits is hot for fans, but I think Sarkodie is one of the overrated Ghanaian rappers. His raps are almost the same in terms of the rhymes and style. He changes the rhythm, tempo and songs but the words in his raps are all about the same thing, himself.

LYDIA FORSON

Lydia Forson is pompous but there’s no absolute reason for her to be the way she is, she has been in a handful of movies but she acts overly conceited. We think she is a good actress but highly overrated because she hasn’t got the chance to prover her worth in acting yet.

BECCA

Becca is a good singer no doubt she’s good, but she’s on this list because she is praised more than she has done. Since she started her career, we can’t name 5 huge Becca hit songs. Becca is big because she has a good and well-connected management.

FUNNY FACE

Comedian Funny Face could make it as one of the not-so-good comedians but his brand has soared and as much as he deserve it, we feel he don’t in a way. Funny Face is just an Accra-based comedian. He don’t even tickle me with his jokes. Maybe he did his homework well.

HERTY BORNGREAT

In the world of gospel music, Herty Borngreat is winning but we feel she don’t deserve it. She’s highly connected and it’s aiding her winning of awards.

SONNIE BADU

Sonnie Badu is an excellent singer and he’s highly praised and loved by many gospel fans but Sonnie Badu is highly overrated for 2 reasons, one, he didn’t write  any of his songs, his songs are remixed versions of old popular songs and two, his comments about Ghanaian gospel songs was juts uncalled for.
