Defamation suit: High Court orders Daily Guide to pay Asiedu Nketia GH¢250,000 

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Asiedu Nketia, says he plans to build a house with GH₵250,000 Daily Guide newspaper was asked by an Accra High Court to pay him.

The court ordered the Daily Guide to pay the amount in damages to Mr Asiedu Nketia, after he won a defamation suit against the newspaper.

The newspaper had reported about three years ago that Mr Nketia used his position as a member of the Board of Directors of the Bui Power Authority to divert building materials for his personal building project - an accusation the NDC General Secretary denied.

Mr Nketia proceeded to sue the Daily Guide, and won.

He told Accra-based Asempa FM after the ruling that he had been vindicated.

The NDC General Secretary, popularly referred to as 'General Mosquito' said he would build a house with the money and name it "Kwasia bi nti", to wit 'because of a fool'.
