Ghana striker Dominic Adiyiah has begun training with Swedish top-flight side Malmo FF after turning down Kalmar FF, GHANASoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.
Sources at the club told Ghana’s leading football portal that the 2009 FIFA U20 World Cup Most Valuable Player and top scorer met expectations.
“We’ve watched Dominic Adiyiah a while longer and think he has qualities that can bring where his style of play can give us new options,” Malmo’s sporting director Daniel Andersson said.
Malmo have former Heart of Lions striker Benjamin Fadi in their books and could be set to increase the rank of Ghanaians by signing Adiyiah.
The 23-year-old trained with Kalmar FF last week and played in two pre-season friendlies but could not reach a deal with them.
Adiyiah is available on a free after terminating his contract with Ukrainian side Arsenal Kyiv.
The former AC Milan player is in search of regular playing time to see if he can gatecrash Ghana’s World Cup squad.
Adiyiah was part of the Black Stars set-up which played Egypt in Cairo last November in the return leg World Cup playoff.
He was part of Ghana's squad which reached the last eight of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
